Comprehensive parking updates in response to novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
Mar 25, 2020
CampusParc is working diligently with the university to address parking needs in response to the coronavirus pandemic and its effects on the Ohio State community.
Parking updates that result specifically in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic will be posted here as they occur.
Expanded parking access
Parking rules have been relaxed indefinitely to provide additional Central Campus access.
Garages
In support of our medical professionals and their work to combat this pandemic, the university and CampusParc have worked together to configure a majority of garages on campus to grant any annual Ohio State parking permit access to additional garages at no added cost to the customer. These changes went into effect at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 19.
Medical center staff may wish to use the Neil Avenue or 11th Avenue garages. As of May 18, 12th Avenue and South Cannon garages returned to normal operations.
9th Avenue East and 9th Avenue West garages will be reserved for A and BG permit holders.
SAFEAUTO and North Cannon (excluding Emergency Physicians and normal off-peak permit parking) garages will remain reserved for patients and visitors only.
Surface lots
As of May 18, Central Campus C surface lot spaces are available to all permit holders 24 hours a day and at no additional cost, regardless of permit type.
Please note: Overnight (3 a.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays) student parking will continue to require a valid overnight permit.
Permit returns
As is always the case, annual permits can be returned to CampusParc. However, we are not requiring a visit to our Customer Care Center to cancel annual permits during this time. To return an annual permit remotely, please contact Customer Care at osuinfo@campusparc.com.
Paid in full
Students, faculty, or staff who paid for an annual permit in full for the year and would like to cancel it will be refunded for the remainder of the permit year, excluding the current month.
Our ability to be responsive to requests for permit refunds has been interrupted while we do our part to stop the spread of the coronavirus and adhere to the State of Ohio’s stay-at-home order, since check processing and mailing must occur on-site. For those who have already requested a refund, we want to assure you that your refund has been processed in our system, and it has been applied to your parking account. We appreciate your patience while we evaluate alternative refund options for our customers.
As of early May, the first batch of refund checks were processed and mailed. These checks included refunds requested by March 15. Additional updates on refund processing will be posted here as they become available.
Payroll deduction
Faculty and staff who would like to cancel an annual permit paid with monthly payroll deductions may submit a completed payroll deduction cancelation form. Upon receipt, deductions will be canceled starting with the following calendar month.
Customer Care Center
In support of social distancing measures and in accordance with the governor’s stay-at-home mandate, our Customer Care Center lobby closed indefinitely effective Wednesday, March 18. We remain available for assistance by calling 614-688-0000.
Construction and on-site work policy
CampusParc’s approach to construction and other on-site projects on campus is consistent with the university, in that all activities will continue. We will continually review and evaluate that policy in consideration of state, federal, and university policies. We also follow the university directive in regard to sick and potentially ill personnel. Individuals that are ill or have a fever (based on CDC guidelines) are not to report to work on any of our jobsites. Everyone’s health and safety remains our highest priority.
Preventative measures
In addition to our regular cleaning protocols, we have increased cleaning of frequently touched areas in surface lots and garages. Elevators, handrails, and pay machines will be cleaned more frequently and thoroughly with appropriate cleaning products.
Departmental purchases
Wexner Medical Center departments purchasing via eRequest are encouraged to utilize our existing biweekly Will Call pickup option. As always, departments can order digital day passes in lieu of scratch-off day passes.
We remain available for assistance with any questions or concerns you may have during this difficult and unprecedented time at 614-688-0000 or osuinfo@campusparc.com. Follow us on Twitter at @CampusParc for parking system news and updates.
