Parking Policies

Here are some of our most commonly asked-about policies, rules and definitions. You can also find our comprehensive parking rules at the bottom of this page. If you have a question about any of this information, please contact us. We're happy to help.

The West Campus parking boundary is designated as any area west of State Route 315. The Blankenship Lot is the only exception to this designation. West Campus permit holders must park in the parking lots located west of this line during peak periods. During off-peak periods, West Campus permit holders may park in any unreserved Central Campus surface lot space.

Parking spaces on campus are allocated and signed for specific uses.

Permit Spaces

Faculty, staff, and student parking are designated as A, B, C, and CX respectively (or WA, WB, WC, or WC5 for Remote West Campus).

Unrestricted Spaces

Unrestricted spaces include Central Campus A, B, C, and CX surface lot spaces, West Campus WA, WB, WC, and WC5 surface lot spaces, and unmarked garage spaces.

ADA Accessible Spaces

ADA Accessible spaces require the use of a disability permit or state-issued placard. Paid parking is required at all times.

Van Accessible Spaces: The hashed area directly next to the designated accessible parking space is considered to be part of the parking space. Vehicles parked in hashed areas are subject to citation and immobilization.

Hourly Spaces

Hourly spaces are intended for visitors and require payment of the hourly rate. Permits are not valid in these spaces.

Reserved Spaces

Reserved parking spaces on campus are signed with an R parking sign. These spaces are reserved for specific use at all times. Unauthorized vehicles are subject to citation or immobilization.

State Vehicle Spaces

State vehicle spaces are reserved for state-owned vehicles at all times.

Loading Zones

Loading zones are signed with a posted time limit to provide access for individuals who depend on these spaces to make timely deliveries. Loading zones also may be used for the immediate pick-up and drop-off of passengers and provide persons with a disability a place to be picked up or dropped off safely.

All loading zones are enforced at all times and are designated tow-away zones.

Off-peak refers to the following times on campus when it's not as busy and parking restrictions are loosened:

  • Weekday Evenings: 4:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m. Monday - Thursday
  • Weekends: 4:00 p.m. Friday - 3:00 a.m. Monday
  • Holidays: 12:01 a.m. - 3:00 a.m. the following day

During these times, additional parking garages become available for visitor and keycard use, remote parking permits are valid in unreserved Central Campus A, B, or C spaces, and student permits are valid overnight. In addition, motorcycles are permitted to park in four-wheel vehicle parking spots. On weekends and holidays, surface lot visitor permit holders are permitted to park overnight.

During academic breaks, West Campus and Buckeye Lot permit holders may park in a Central Campus C space 24 hours a day. Please note, final's week is not considered part of academic break.

During Summer Term, students may purchase or exchange/upgrade to any available student permit, regardless of their eligibility. Customers may exchange/upgrade by visiting our Customer Care Center.

Please note: Summer Term is not considered an academic break. Regular parking regulations apply.

Residence Hall Students

Eligible residence hall students may store their vehicle in the designated overnight parking areas with a valid overnight storage permit, but are required to be parked in one of the designated overnight parking areas during overnight periods. During off-peak periods, residence hall students with an overnight storage permit may park in any unreserved Central Campus surface space.

Football Saturdays: A number of lots are reserved for game-day activities, and vehicles must be removed by 12:01 a.m. on football Saturdays. Remaining vehicles will be subject to removal at the owner’s expense. Refer to the football parking map and signs at lot entrances for details.
