Which parking option is right for you?

We recognize that the 2020-21 academic year is going to look a little different, and we want to make sure you're equipped with all the information necessary to make the best parking decision for you. Below you will find a handful of answers to questions that we anticipate you may have in light of the current circumstances. Of course, if you have additional questions that have not been included, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Care team. We want to help!

  • If you plan to be on campus more than 2 days per week, an annual permit will most likely still offer the best price per parking session.
  • If you plan to be on campus only during certain months, a temporary monthly (TM, OTM, WTM, VGA) permit may offer what you’re looking for. This year we’ve added the option to purchase our temporary month permits in 90-day increments. Please note: We recommend logging in to view your permit eligibility. Underclassmen may not be eligible for all temporary permits.
  • If you plan to be on campus 1 day a week or less, you may want to check out our temporary daily (TS) permit or hourly parking.
  • Hourly parking is another alternative if you plan to be on campus infrequently. You can use the ParkMobile app to pay for parking day-to-day in surface lots. Check out the visitor tab in SureParc to find hourly parking options.

Our new Permit Comparison Tool allows you to compare all of the options we’ve mentioned above. You can evaluate pricing as well as parking access and frequency of purchase needed.

Due to the shortened fall semester, it may make sense for you to consider purchasing a temporary monthly (TM, OTM, WTM, VGA) parking permits, rather than an annual permit. These permits are available for a 30-day period, and we’ve added a 90-day option as well. Purchasing a temporary monthly permit will allow you to purchase parking for only the months you plan to be on campus. Please note: We recommend logging in to view your permit eligibility. Underclassmen may not be eligible for all temporary permits.

If you still plan to be on campus more than 2 days per week for the entire year, an annual permit will most likely offer the best price per parking session. We recommend using our Permit Comparison Tool to get an idea of how pricing and parking access for a monthly permit would compare to your typical annual permit.

Ohio State's Department of Transportation and Traffic Management continues to work diligently to follow social distancing guidelines on all CABS buses. If you are interested in the details of their efforts, please review TTM's CABS Update.

  • If you’re primary goal is to park on central campus, we recommend logging in and visiting the Permit Comparison Tool to view the list of permits you are eligible to purchase. You may already be eligible to purchase an annual permit that provides access to central campus parking.
  • If you're not eligible for an annual permit that provides access to your desired location, we recommend reviewing the temporary monthly permit options (TM & VGA). Please note: Underclassmen may not be eligible for all temporary permits.
  • Hourly parking is also available through the Parkmobile app or in garages. Check out the visitor tab on SureParc  to learn where you can pay hourly to park.

While remote parking is your lowest-priced annual permit choice for parking at Ohio State, you may prefer the convenience of parking on central campus.

  1. Visit the Permit Comparison Tool to view the list of permits you are eligible to purchase. You may already be eligible to purchase an annual permit that provides access to central campus parking.
  2. Not eligible for a central campus annual permit? Look at temporary monthly permit options. Note: We recommend logging in to view your permit eligibility. Underclassmen may not be eligible for all temporary permits.
  3. Hourly parking is also available through the Parkmobile app or in garages. Check out the visitor tab on SureParc to learn where you can pay hourly to park.

All of our annual permits have a monthly proration, which makes it easy to try hourly, daily or monthly parking before deciding what might work best for you. This means you can purchase an annual permit later if you end up being on campus more than you expected.

The ParkMobile app can be used to pay for parking in any unrestricted surface lot space (A, B, C, CX, WA, WB, WC, WCO) across campus, and the Permit Comparison Tool will provide you with details on daily (TS) and monthly (TM, OTM, WTM, VGA) permit options.

Yes! We have expanded our student payment plan to all student annual permits, and we’re waiving the administrative set-up fee. The payment plan divides the cost of the permit into two payments. The first payment is due at the time of purchase, and the second payment is due on the first business day in January. Check out our Student Payment Plan page for more details!
